Pune engineer cultivates saffron in mobile containers

A software engineer-turned agricultural enthusiast is cultivating saffron in mobile containers in Pune.

Shailesh Modak, who hails from Pune said, “I invested Rs 10 lakhs as a one-time investment. We are cultivating saffron in shipping containers. Here we used the technique of hydroponics -cultivation without soil."

"We first produced green vegetables and strawberries where we got success, after that we started cultivating saffron", Shailesh said.
