<div align="justify">Senior Congress leader from Maharashtra, Mahadev Shelar, reportedly committed suicide in Mumbai on Saturday.<br /><br />Shelar was general secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and a spokesperson. He was found hanging from the ceiling of his residence. He was rushed to the Fortis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on admission.<br /><br />The body has been sent to the Rajawadi Hospital at Ghatkopar for post-mortem. No suicide note has been found so far.<br /><br />Maharashtra Congress leader Ashok Chavan and leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil has condoled the death of Shelar.<br /><br />Shelar was well read and a lawyer by profession. He had defended the party at difficult times.</div>
