<p>Pune police have arrested an actress from Chennai with her step-brother for soliciting on Saturday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Caroline Ranajit Mariyathasan, 22, and her 32-year-old step-brother Rajkumar were reportedly trapped by the police from a five star hotel, located on Ahmednagar Road, Yerwada, in Pune.<br /><br />Crime Branch officials told reporters that constable Ashok Takalkar had received a tip-off about a sexual commercial transaction that was about to take place at Yerwada. With the help of a decoy customer and marked currency notes, the police trapped both Caroline and Rajkumar.<br /><br />Also known as Karolin Mariyathasan, the actress, according to her Facebook page, studied at Alpha Matriculation School in Chennai. Passionate about music since childhood, Caroline has also appeared in TV shows and albums apart from commercials for textile and jewellery shops. <br /><br />The former child actor has three releases lined up, initial investigation revealed. <br /><br />Police say that while Caroline’s mother runs a garment company, her step-father owns two photo studios including one in Mumbai.<br /><br />Tracing the modus operandi of the brother-sister, police say that potential customers were told to book two suites in a hotel and pick up tabs for the flight from Chennai to Mumbai and taxi fare for Pune.<br /><br />“Her charges were Rs 3 lakh for a couple of hours and she had visited Pune on two occasions earlier. We are still trying to verify the purpose of her visits,” Inspector Bhanupratap Barge told reporters.<br /><br />According to Barge, the actress ventured into this business primarily to support her lavish lifestyle. <br /><br />The actress has only the three ready-to-release films on hand. Moreover, we have gathered that Caroline’s father is also involved and it was on his instructions that Rajkumar used to search for potential customers, the police said.<br /><br />Pune is fast becoming the latest high-finance fleshpot of Maharashtra. In the past few months, traps laid down by police have led to the arrest of at least three models and a Marathi film actress.<br /><br />The social security cell of Pune Police had trapped a Kashmiri television serial actress Azarajan Gulab Shaikh for soliciting sometime ago. <br /></p>
