<p>Lucknow: A trainee IAS officer, blaming himself for lack of cleanliness in the Tehsil premises, did sit-ups in front of lawyers in the tehsil premises in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district.</p><p>A video showing the trainee IAS officer Rinku Singh doing sit-ups as the lawyers looked on has gone viral on social media platforms.</p><p>According to the reports, Singh, who was the sub-divisional magistrate had, during an inspection of the Powayan tehsil in the district, found some people urinating in the open and punished them by ordering them to do sit-ups. He even threatened a senior official, who too was caught urinating in the open, with police action forcing him to do sit-ups.</p>.Cleanliness survey: Indore retains top ranking for 8th time.<p>The lawyers protested against the punishment and pointed out to the SDM that the toilets within the premises were so dirty that they couldn't be used. ‘’Where will one go to urinate if not in the open,’’ they told the official. The lawyers also staged a dharna inside the tehsil premises in protest.</p><p>During the inspection, Singh found that the toilets and lavatories were very dirty.</p><p>Singh said that being the highest ranking official, he was to be blamed for the lack of cleanliness within the premises and therefore he too should get the same punishment.</p><p>Some lawyers tried to stop Singh as he started doing the sit-ups but he continued.</p><p>‘’I don’t feel ashamed in doing the sit-up…..it’s my responsibility to keep the premises clean,’’ Singh later said.</p>
