Match Synopsis: Sent into bat first by DC skipper Rishabh Pant, RCB posted 171/5 riding on the back of AB de Villiers 75 from 42 balls. de Villiers hit 3 fours and 5 sixes in his inning and remained not out. DC lost wickets at the start of the chase but Shimron Hetmyer hit 53 from 25 balls and Rishabh Pant smashed 58 from 48 balls to take the chase all the way down to the last over. DC needed 14 runs from the last over. Mohammed Siraj conceded 13 runs from the last over of the match as RCB clinched the contest by a solitary run.

RCB's AB de Villiers wins the Player of the Match award for hitting 75 from 42 balls.

AB de Villiers:The shot over extra cover was certainly one of the best shots, but the one over midwicket off KG was my best one. I don't often get him away, but I'm happy I managed to get him away for that one. It's important to be fresh for every game. I worked out at home and during the quarantine in the hotel room, and now it's just about managing ourselves throughout the tournament and being fresh when we go out there to play. We have some experienced heads and some young Indian bowlers who have done well internationally recently. They come in with a lot of confidence. Myself, Virat, and Maxi chip in with some help when we can too. I forced myself to say a bit more behind the stumps, thanks to Yuzi who urged me to do it.

Virat Kohli, RCB captain:At one stage I thought it was getting away, but Siraj's final over gave us confidence and we thought he would manage a professional and clinical job. If there weren't fielding lapses it wasn't going to go this far anyway. We lost wickets but AB went berserk and then in the last few overs while bowling Hetmyer got hold of a few, otherwise, we were in control. There was no dew tonight thanks to that sandstorm, and we bowled with a dry ball, so that made a difference. Maxi is still not bowling, he's the 7th option, so we have enough options to do the job for us. We always had batting depth, but now we have a lot of bowling options too. I choose to be optimistic, but captaining for too long does make you nervous. I invariably go with the gut feel of the bowler. AB doesn't like me saying this, but he hasn't played competitive cricket for 5 months, and given that, AB's innings were absolutely top-notch as he has done time and again for us.

Rishabh Pant, DC captain:Obviously feeling disappointed, especially when you are on the losing side. They got 10-15 runs extra on this wicket. Hetty (Hetmyer )played a brilliant inning, because of him we got close to the target. In the last over, we were thinking whoever gets the ball has to finish the job for the team. That's what we were planning, in the end, we were one run short. We counted the overs really well, in the end, spinners weren't getting the help. In the end, I had to give the ball to Stoinis. It's good to take positives from all the matches. As a young team, we like to learn from each and every game and improve each and every day.

Before Jadeja blasted him for 37 runs, Patel had picked the wickets of Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, and Ambati Rayudu to push CSK to the backfoot. Avesh Khan: The pacer has emerged as one of the best performers for DC this season. He is the team’s leading wicket-taker this year with 11 wickets. Some of his victims are MS Dhoni, Faf du Plessis, Jonny Bairstow, Suryakumar Yadav, Nicholas Pooran and David Miller. Avesh’s performance has even kept Anrich Nortje out of the playing XI so far.

RCB Threats: CSK's Ravindra Jadeja hitting RCB’s premium bowler, Harshal Patel, for five sixes and one four in the 20th over was a throwback to a time when RCB used to struggle with its death bowling. Although they have managed to improve on this shortcoming, a significant over like the one bowled by Patel to Jadeja could demotivate the bowlers and quickly make things worse for the team. The onus is now on captain Kohli to guard his team against the perineal threat of bowling poorly at the fag end of an innings.

RCB Opportunities: The absence of Kane Richardson or Adam Zampa should not affect the team’s balance as neither of the two players was getting selected in the playing XI. If the need arises, RCB can give an opportunity to Finn Allen. Allen has excellent T20 numbers and deserves a chance to play for RCB.

RCB Weaknesses: Recent history suggests that RCB have not liked playing against DC. The Capitals have won the last four contests between these two teams, and they are gradually becoming RCB’s bogey team.

RCBStrengths: RCB fetching just 122 while chasing 192 versus Chennai Super Kings should be considered a mere aberration. Batting remains their core strength. Against SRH, they almost let the match slip while defending 159. DC's other three wins have come while chasing. A champion side must be equally adept in either setting a total or chasing one. This is one threat looming over DC.

DCOpportunities: With Ravichandran Ashwin not being available now, Rishabh Pant needs to fill his absence with an Indian bowler. So it is likely that either Ishant Sharma or Umesh Yadav will be back in the reckoning. It is important to note that both Ishant and Umesh have not played a single match so far.
