Mangaluru ULB polls on Aug 29

The election to urban local bodies (ULB) -- Ullal & Puttur City Municipal Councils (CMC) and Bantwal Town Municipal Council (TMC) will be held on August 29.

Briefing reporters, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar said that there are 1,17,455 voters in these three ULBs.

Ullal CMC and Puttur CMC have 31 wards each; while Bantwal TMC has 27 wards.

For the first time, 50% seats have been reserved for women.

EVMs will be used for polling. VVPATs will not be used in this election.

A team led by a tahsildar have already removed the banners and flexes put up in ULB limits.

Further, teams have been formed to check violation of model code of conduct.
