Inspired by heritage, Ajay comes up with sci-fi saga

The poster of ‘Mysore Masala’

The poster of ‘Mysore Masala’, directed by Ajay Sarpeshkar, was launched in the city recently. The event saw the who’s who of Sandalwood in full attendance. It brought together the cast of the film and the discussion that followed gave one an insight into the making of the movie.

Sharing his thoughts soon after the unveiling of the poster, director Ajay Sarpeshkar said that he drew inspiration for the film from the rich Indian heritage. He also said that the movie will feature an unidentified flying object (UFO).

The sci-fi adventure saga has a lot of VFX and SFX elements. “We wrapped up the shooting recently and now the post-production work has begun as well. The film is expected to mark the beginning of an exciting era in the Sandalwood industry,” he said.

The cast of the film includes Anant Nag, Sharmiela Mandre, Samyuktha Hornad, and Kiran Srinivas. Anant Nag will be essaying the role of a former journalist who had an impressive track record of working in the science field. The film will also have Prakash Belawadi, a senior journalist and a theatre personality.

Sharing her views about the film, Samyuktha Hornad, who plays a cop in the movie, says “We are almost done with the shooting and I think the members of the cast know each other better by now. I always feel that cops should be shown in good light and their good work should be highlighted.”

She feels that the film will surely appeal to science fiction buffs because UFOs and the mystery around them triggers a lot of curiosity.

Actor Kiran Srinivas, who plays the character of Arjun in the film, says “Ajay has put together an ambitious concept and has lived up to what he had in mind. I don’t think this concept has been tried by anybody else in the Kannada film industry. The film is humorous and yet has an edge-of-the-seat feel to it. The character that I play has a lot of meat and I hope that I have done full justice to the role.”

The roles of the rest of the cast still remains a mystery.
