With a tinge of Punjabi mixed with some classy philosophical lyrics, and Sunny Leone as the leading lady featuring in the video, Ragini MMS 2’s song Baby Doll main sone di’ has all the elements to qualify for an instant hit in the parties.

Metrolife spoke to the music director-cum-singer-composer duo Manmeet and Harmeet from the Meet Bros behind this sensational song as they performed for the Delhi audience at Zerzura recently.

Acknowledging their work Pinky hai paisewalon ki in the 2013 release Zanjeer, “When Ekta Kapoor approached us for this song, she didnt ask for a massy song. She wanted an item song with an international and classy appeal to it,” exclaims Manmeet.
“In our first jamming session, we were sold on the idea as our lyricist Kumaar who is commercially known for a style of poetry that people can relate to, belted out the lyrics. At that instant, we wanted the song to be Barbie Doll, as we thought the word doll will find an instant connection amongst girls,” says Manmeet adding, “Later, as the label ‘Barbie’ turned out to be difficult to use as it is a brand name, we had to re-dub it as Baby Doll instead.”

Overwhelmed by the response to the song, Manmeet says, “While making this groovy English and Punjabi mix, we knew every girl would relate to it, but the way even guys have caught a fancy to it, is amazing. And the video has turned out really well as Sunny Leone is sizzling up the screen, making it a powerful package.”

The duo who changed tracks from acting to a career in music believes, “Though our strength is Sufi but Baby Doll shows a facet of us that we really are – outgoing Punjabi, high-on-style Delhi boys.”

Referring to their song Shirt da button in Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum , Manmeet says, “That kind of music which is romantic but uses metaphors like shirt da button instead of dooriyan and darmiyan for romance, is what our style is about. The crazy minds that we are, with Kumaar, our lyricist by our side, we get into the mahaul of jamming and come up with unique and versatile music.”

Post the release of Baby Doll, the duo is looking foward to their music in eight different projects.

However, they talk only about the upcoming release Bhoothnath Returns where Mika has given voice to one of their songs. As they signed off, Metrolife took a quick byte on the singers the talented duo bank on for their music. “Honestly, we could be singing all our songs. But what we intend to do is, to find the right voice to match the feel of a song. For the texture that Baby Doll required, we got our childhood friend, Kanika Kapoor from London, as we knew her voice would meet the character of the music.”
