Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel held a roadshow in Patan assembly constituency to thank the voters for electing him in the recent election. This is his maiden visit after becoming Chief Minister of the state.

People and party workers lined up on both sides of the road to welcome him. Baghel first offered prayers at Hatkeshwar Mahadev temple here. The roadshow ended in a public meeting, late evening.

Interacting with media, Baghel when asked about expanding his ministry, said there is limitation of only 13 ministerial berths and everyone cannot be satisfied. The “envelope handed over to me by Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be opened just a few hours before the oath-taking ceremony,” he said.

At the public meeting, Baghel credited his victory to the grassroot workers and dedicated it to the people of Patan.

Opposition BJP, which had to bow out after three terms, accused the chief minister of running a "one-man Army".

Rahul upstaged

BJP spokesperson Sanjay Shrivastava, referring to the midnight reshuffle of bureaucracy said, generally bureaucratic surgery by a new government is done after all ministers are administered oath of office and secrecy. But a day before ministry formation, the chief minister has carried out administrative surgery at midnight. “It shows he does not have faith in the ministry constituted by Congress president Rahul Gandhi. He wants to control the administration,” Shrivastava said.
