Eleven-year-old Konda Sarath, who recently underwent a critical congenital heart surgery, had his wish come true on Friday when  Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met him at the Apollo Health City and assured him of financial aide.

The boy hails from Narmeta Mandal, Jangam taluk in Warangal district of the state. Conversing with KCR, who met him despite his packed schedule, Sarath revealed his dream of becoming a surgeon, the CM promised to finance his education, so that he can accomplish his desire of becoming a doctor. KCR also promised a fixed deposit of Rs 5 lakh to meet the boy’s medical expenses and a house for the family.

Dr Prathap Reddy, chairman Apollo group speaking on the occasion said, it’s a rare gesture for a Chief Minister and leader of KCR’s stature to take out time from his busy schedule and come and meet an ailing boy. He said other leaders should emulate him and show similar compassion.

Paediatrist Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Dr Girish Warrier said, Sarath is a brave boy and a great fighter, he can lead a normal life like any other child henceforth. Sarath was born with a major defect in the heart, where the unpurified blood was being circulated to the body.

He had a single ventricle (normally two ventricles are present) in the heart. There were defects in the heart valves and major blood vessels.
