After two decades of litigation, Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday decided that the house on Banjara Hills Road No-11 should go to NTR’s last daughter Umamaheswari , who was now in the US, as per the will.
56-year-old Lakshmi Parvati said that NTR had on several occasions indicated that the house was hers and she could stay there till her death.“I don’t know why my children are now after this property, though their father had given several such assets to them,” she said. She, however, said that she had no legal document to vouch her claim but would approach the higher courts once again.
NTR had written the house in the name of Uma Maheshwari and he had no house of his own. Since Uma was staying abroad, she asked NTR to live in the house as long as he could. After NTR’s death, Lakshmi claimed rights over the house.
Though Uma Maheshwari had not forcibly evicted her stepmother, her brothers had approached the courts to get Lakshmi out of the house. The court has given two months time for Lakshmi to vacate the house.
