Man held for raping daughter, niece

A 44-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his daughter and niece, the police said.

Jaipur police arrested Anand Singh on Tuesday from Pratap Nagar locality of the city. According to the police, the accused, a labourer, is a resident of Uttar Pradesh and currently lives in Jaipur. He is said to be an alcoholic. "We have lodged two separate FIRs against the accused. It is alleged that he raped his daughter and niece repeatedly," said station house officer of Pratap Nagar, Islam Khan. At present accused is on police remand.

According to the police, both the girls are minors. While the daughter is 16 years old, the niece is 12 years old.

Accordingly, the accused has been charged under section 376AB of Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2018, which provides for death sentence for rape of girls under 12.

"Two cases under IPC and the POCSO Act have been registered against the accused", Khan added.
