Akhilesh's 'priest' jibe response to Yogi's 'shepherd'

Last Updated 22 April 2019, 11:22 IST

The verbal duel between Samajwadi Party (SP) president and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath continued unabated with the former hitting back over latter's 'shepherd' jibe on Monday.

Akhilesh also sought a special court to ''try'' people like Adityanath, who, he said would never stop making derogatory comments on their rivals.

Adityanath had, while addressing an election rally on Sunday, said that but for the Constitution, Akhilesh would have been rearing cattle like shepherds.

''I would like to know from Adityanath what he would have been doing if not for the constitution....he would have been distributing prasad (sweets offered on the deity) at some temple,'' he said.

''I have with me those, who rear cattle and also sheep,'' Akhilesh added.

He said that special courts should be set up to ''try'' people like Adityanath, who would never stop making derogatory remarks on their rivals.

''These people (Adityanath) will never stop,'' he said apparently referring to the 72-hour ban imposed on the UP chief minister over his 'Ali vs Bajarang Bali' remarks.

Adityanath had reportedly said that the BSP supremo Mayawati had once remarked that Akhilesh would have been rearing cattle at some landlord's home had B.R.Ambedkar not provided us with the Constitution.

Akhilesh and Adityanath have been involved in a verbal duel since the beginning of the Lok Sabha polls. The two rivals never let go of any opportunity to attack each other.
