It’s not only the country’s top executive who wants to be remembered as a ‘Chai-wala’. There are many others who want to follow suit. But in a different style.

Bitten by the love bug, but rejected by their respective lady love, two friends Sandeep and Ankit decided to open a tea stall at Boring Road, the State Capital’s posh area.

So what’s new?

The tea stall, aptly named ‘Bewafa Chai-wala’, is drawing a huge crowd, particularly among the youth, for its unique nomenclature.

The owners have fixed two different rates for their customers. For a normal customer, be it a love-bird or any other person, a cup of tea is served for Rs 15, that too in an earthen cup. For those who are jilted lovers, dejected and rejected by their lady love, they are offered the same tea for a discount and are charged Rs 10 for a cup of tea.

Since both Sandeep and Ankit have maintained the quality of tea, it’s selling like hot cake. “The name (Bewafa Chai-wala) itself draws attention. Besides, tea is special. One can see large number of youth, mostly students, including girls, visiting the tea stall to have their beverages,” said Sujit Kumar, one of the customers.

Inaugurated on Valentine’s Day, the tea stall is now getting popular among the office goers too. Many of them prefer to have a cup of tea while returning home.

“But there are many love-birds who throng there during day time too. According to an estimate, Sandeep and Ankit sell tea worth Rs 4000 every day and save around Rs 1500 daily,” said one of the regular customers.
