AAP MLA Somnath Bharti was arrested on Thursday for reportedly manhandling security personnel at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and inciting a mob to damage a part of the boundary wall of the hospital.
The Malviya Nagar MLA was granted bail in the evening. Bharti is the second AAP lawmaker to be arrested in the past 24 hours. Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested by the police on Wednesday over the sexual harassment complaint by his brother-in-law’s wife.
Earlier this month, a case was registered against Bharti on a complaint by the chief security officer of the AIIMS.The official had said that Bharti incited a crowd to damage the boundary wall of the AIIMS to provide unauthorised entry to people. Bharti has been accused of using JCB to damage the fence of the boundary wall at Gautam Nagar nallah road.
This the second time Bharti has been arrested. In 2015, he was arrested over attempt to murder and domestic violence charges being slapped by his wife.
