Cyclone 'Titli' crossed the Andhra coast at Gollapadu in Vajrapu Kothuru block in Srikakulam district early Thursday morning, causing considerable damage. The cyclone took a West of Northwesterly direction and moved towards Odisha coast, at a 14 km speed.

The power supply was affected in parts of Srikakulam district as the poles were uprooted in several areas. Coconut and cashew gardens suffered a huge loss. No human loss was reported. The administration had already evacuated a large number of people from fishing villages to safer places on Wednesday, as a precaution.

Heavy rains with wind speeding up to 120 km per hour were lashing at Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. People in four revenue blocks including Vajrapu Kothuru and Sompet were advised against going out of home till noon.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation with officials through teleconference at 4 am and directed them to keep the administration on a high alert till this evening. Danger warnings continued at all ports. Fishermen were advised not to venture into the rough sea till further notice.
