Apple adds Covid-19 vaccination centre details on Maps, Siri

It's been exactly a year when most governments around the world introduced lockdown to curb the spread the Coronavirus infection.

Even technology giants Apple and Google joined hands to offer information on Covid-19 infected zones via phone to help people avoid going there. Also, given data on nearest Coronavirus testing centres.

The economic shutdown had a mix of success in terms of slowing the speed of spread and failure as some ignorant people just did not maintain the social distance protocol. But, it did give enough time for scientists to deliver vaccines in record time.

Thanks to those efforts, the Covid-19 vaccination drive is now live in almost all global regions.

Now, Apple has announced that it has added Covid-19 vaccine centre location details on Maps for users to get inoculated at nearby health centres. Initially, it will be available for the US region.

"Apple today updated Apple Maps with COVID-19 vaccination locations from VaccineFinder, a free, online service developed by Boston Children’s Hospital that provides the latest vaccine availability for those eligible at providers and pharmacies throughout the US," the company said.

Users can find the Covid-19 vaccination locations from the Search bar in Apple Maps by selecting Covid-19 Vaccines in the Find Nearby menu.

Also, users can ask Siri to get the nearest vaccination centre.

The company added that the Apple Maps place card for each vaccine site will include the operating hours, address, phone numbers, and a link to the provider’s website. There, Apple Maps users can get more information about available vaccines and book appointments. The initial rollout includes more than 20,000 locations and Apple will be adding more sites in the coming weeks.
