FUCC to meet Vultures CC in YSR final

Friends Union Cricket Club will clash with Vultures Cricket Club in the final of the YS Ramaswamy memorial trophy tournament here at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday.

In the semifinals played on Friday, FUCC quelled a spirited chase by Swastic Union Cricket Club (1) while Vultures CC, in a curtailed match, survived a big scare from Jawahar Sports Club to emerge winners by three runs. FUCC, riding on a 108-ball-112 (10x4, 2x6) from Sadiq Kirmani, posted a massive 332 for eight in 50 overs. Suneel Raju (75) and Kunal Kapoor (58) made significant contributions. Udit Patel was the pick of bowlers for SUCC with returns of 4/53. Former India paceman and State senior selector Dodda Ganesha turned up for SUCC and made a decent contribution with both ball (2/71) and bat (40). 

Brief scores: Friends Union Cricket Club: 332/8 in 50 overs (Sadiq Kirmani 112, Stalin Hoover 38, Kunal Kapoor 58, Suneel Raju 75; Udit Patel 4-53, Dodda Ganesha 2-71) bt Swastic Union Cricket Club (1): 298 all out in 40.4 overs (R Samarth 91, Shreyas Gopal 26, Rohit Sabharwal 90, Dodda Ganesha 40; Stalin Hoover 3-50, Likith Bannur 2-62, Vinod M 3-41).

Vultures Cricket Club (Match reduced to 30 overs a side due to wet pitch): 218/6 in 30 overs (Karun Nair 81, A Mithun 39, Anirudha Joshi 39) bt Jawahar Sports Club: 215/6 in 30 overs (Mir Kaunian Abbas 61, KC Avinash 62 n.o., K Shashinadra 37; A Mithun 3-47).
