“The KPL, an effort of the KSCA, presents an opportunity for young cricketers to get exposure and attention. The Twenty20 format may not be ideal to judge a cricketer but at the same time, this tournament does give a platform to all aspiring cricketers to express themselves. I wish the organisers as well as the Belagavi Panthers the very best,” Tendulkar said during the launch function that started with a classical dance troupe performance.  After unveiling the team logo, consisting of two pouncing panthers, the Mumbaikar was introduced to the Panthers team members and to the families of franchise owners L Subash Chandra (MD, Sangeetha Mobiles) and AR Nagesh (MD, Subhas Enterprises). Tendulkar also introduced the team jersey, a vibrant mix of red, blue and white.

Panthers’ skipper/coach J Arun Kumar could not attend the function, the former India ‘A’ skipper involved in a camp in Mohali in preparation for the BCCI Corporate Trophy beginning on Tuesday. Arun will appear for Air India Blue in the event.
