Last Updated 26 February 2018, 13:54 IST

A comprehensive action plan for Yadgir and Raichur districts will be in place by April this year for their overall progress, development and transformation, Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D V Sadananda Gowda announced on Monday.

Speaking after a review meeting with senior government officers, Gowda said the transformation will be ushered in through coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state government.

Yadgir and Raichur are among 115 most backward districts in the country identified by the NITI Aayog for the Centre's "aspirational district programme" for overall development. The districts were identified on the basis of indicators of education, health, nutrition, basic infrastructure, rural household electrification and access to potable water and individual toilets.

"We have identified 70 parameters for improvement. Regular review meetings will be held to monitor progress, especially in the sectors of education and health," Gowda said.
Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar was present.
