BJP suspects malpractice in Gulbarga LS seat

Last Updated 21 April 2019, 14:04 IST

Former minister and senior BJP leader Aravind Limbavali suspects that large scale malpractice is expected to take place in Gulbarga Lok Sabha constituency, as entire district administration and police force have connived with Congress candidate Mallikarjun Kharge.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Arvind said as per the ground reports from party workers, Congress candidate is suspected to ‘exchange’ excess Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) that the district administration gets as a contingency measure, with the original EMVs that were used for casting votes, after the polling date. He called this as tampering of voting machines and later clarified it as malpractice.

“We have been complaining with the Election Commission of India to replace deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, who are dancing to the tunes of Kharge,” he said and added that this is the only way Congress can win the election.

Arvind said they wished All India Congress Committee President Rahul Gandhi to have campaigned more in Karnataka. ‘Our star campaigner’ (Rahul) would have helped in increasing our victory margin. He said BJP will win 22 seats in Karnataka, but did not say which six seats they would lose.
