Engineering seats aside, there were also four Dental, two Homoeopathy and a solitary medical seat left unfilled. A total of seven medical seats and 56 engineering seats were taken by the candidates eligible under the sports category. Vacant seats will be included in the casual round of counselling.
After document verification on Monday, only 84 out of the 186 candidates who appeared before the sports committee were deemed eligible. The rest were rejected for not possessing valid documents or for failing to satisfy the qualifications set by the Karnataka Examinations Authority.
The counselling for special categories will continue on Wednesday with four medical seats, two dental and a one engineering seat for Jammu and Kashmir migrant candidates.
