3 held for cheating man from Kerala

 Mandi police have busted a cheating case in which a man from Kerala was deceived of Rs 3.5 lakh recently.

Three persons have been arrested and Rs 3.5 lakh in cash has been recovered. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Nazar, 46, son of Ali, a resident of Munderi in Wyanad district in Kerala; Lakshman, 60, son of Prem Lal, a resident of KRS in Mandya district and Mohammad Ali, alias Musa, alias Ali, 53, son of Syed Ali, a resident of Mandi Mohalla in Mysuru.

The accused had cheated a man from Kerala making him believe that they would sell gold chains at cheaper prices.

The accused had invited the victim to meet them near Farooquia Dental College on October 6. They handed him over some imitation jewels and took Rs 3.5 lakh in cash. A case had been registered with the Mandi police in this connection.


The police personnel were on the look out for the accused and they were arrested near the bus stop at the Mission Hospital Circle of Mandi Mohalla on October 10. Some imitation jewellery and the cash extorted from the Kerala person have been recovered.
CCB Inspector K C Prakash, Sub-Inspector M J Jayasheelan, ASI M D Shivaraju and others investigated the case under the guidance of DCP N D Birje and ACP C Gopal.

Mechanic turns thief
Narasimharaja police have arrested an employee of a car showroom and recovered automobile spare parts, worth Rs 45,000, from him on Sunday.

According to a press note from the office of the city police commissioner, Vinod Joseph, 29, son of Robert, a resident of Gandhinagar in the city, is the accused. He was working as a mechanic in Vidhatri Motors on Hunsur Road. He used to either steal or replace spare parts from the cars that would be available for servicing. He would shift the spare parts to his house under the guise of trial rides before and after servicing the cars.

He was arrested near a car servicing garage near Dandina Maramma temple on the Bengaluru Road in Mysuru on Sunday when he was trying to sell the spare parts at cheaper prices. With the arrest, a case registered with Vijayanagar police station has been busted.

Narasimharaja Police Inspector G S Gajendra Prasad, PSI Nagendra and other personnel investigated the case under the guidance of DCP N Birje and ACP Umesh G Shet.
