''In Mysore palace, ‘Sakhis’ (women servants of royal princess) are commonly seen during Dasara. It’s the same in Congress too''. This was how MP H Vishwanath reacted, in a mocking tone, to a poser on cine actor Ramya’s entry into Congress fold.

“D K Shivakumar knows, how it (Ramya’s entry)will benefit the party,” said Vishwanath at a media briefing here on Friday. However, he said that Ramya should join the party as the organisation has given 50 per cent representation for women too.

Digressing, the member of parliament demanded BJP high command not to encourage corrupt among the leaders for the nationwide rath yatra against graft. If given an opportunity for those with grimy record, the very purpose of the yatra will be defeated. Moreover it would be a black mark to the party and veteran leader L K Advani should ponder over it.

He also exhorted the saffron party to endorse Bihar JD(U) strongman and chief minister Nitish Kumar instead of their own party man and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. “Nitish has brought enormous changes in that state and has also brought an amendment to law against corruption. Similar changes should happen in the state too and the properties of such officers should be confiscated and converted into schools and other social purposes,” urged Vishwanath.

Regarding home turf Karnataka, the MP alleged that chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda himself is not aware of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) works. He just blinked when urged to conduct JnNURM works progress review meeting.

Without taking names, the MP said the chief minister should be apprised of works. “He was elevated to the coveted post in a sudden development. Having expertise as a parliamentarian, he should be aware of running the show with administrative acumen,” said Vishwanath.
