Family has not discussed Nikhil for Mandya: CM

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday said his family has not decided on the candidature of his son and actor Nikhil Kumar for the Mandya Lok Sabha seat.

Speaking to reporters here, the chief minister said he did not know why the issue was being debated when his own family had not even discussed the issue. “There may be a demand from party workers and leaders. But we are yet to decide on it,” he remarked.

Kumaraswamy took on Sumalata, wife of late actor Ambareesh, who has said she may contest the Mandya seat.

“Why Sumalata? What is her contribution to Mandya? When Ambareesh was representing Mandya, what was her contribution to the people of? Why this publicity for her. (I understand) it was because of the tragedy (Ambareesh’s death)."
