Cricket: NIE, Mahajana's set for final clash

A brilliant unbeaten century by middle-order batsman U Kruthik (134, 12x4s, 4x6s) and his unfinished eighth wicket partnership of 121-runs with K N Sachin (39 n.o, 1x4s, 3x6s), enabled National Institute of Engineering, Mysore to register a three-wicket win over SJCE, Mysore, with seven balls to spare and enter the final in the KSCA Inter-collegiate knock-out tournament played at the JSS-SJCE grounds here on Friday.

In another semi-final at Gangothri Glades grounds, an inspiring knock by Bhuvan Ponnappa (84, 11x4s), helped SBRR Mahajana FGC to register a two wicket win over Yuvaraja's College, Mysore and enter the final match to be played on February 23 at Gangotri Glades.

Scores: Semi-final: SJCE, Mysore 245 in 50 overs (Parikshith Narashiman 58, R Bharath 68, Md. Imran Khan 38, R Lakshman 25, B R Punith four for 40, Suhas B Shekar two for 35, Vasu two for 38) lost to National Institute of Engineering, Mysore 249 for seven in 48.5 overs (U Kruthik 134 n.o, K N Sachin 39 n.o., Parikshith N two for 31).
