Urban Development and Housing Minister U T Khader sought to know whether a city cannot be developed as a smart city without skill game, video game centres and massage parlours.
Speaking at a review meeting of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) here on Tuesday, he asked: “There is no skill game, video game or massage parlour in my constituency. Why does Mangaluru need them? Can’t we develop a smart city without such centres?”
When the officials failed to give a proper answer, the minister said that a meeting of MLAs and the mayor would be convened shortly to discuss measures to check such centres.
Raising the issue of unauthorised skill game centres mushrooming in Mangaluru, the councillors in the review meeting, said that in the name of recreation clubs, several massage parlour centres have come up in the city and there is a need to check such unauthorised centres.
