<p>A youth from Karnataka, who was declared brain dead, donated his hands to a man from Puducherry who lost his hands in a crusher accident.</p>.<p>In a report from ToI, the youth, a telecom employee, met with an accident on November 15 and despite repeated attempts to save him, was declared brain dead on November 19. The hands were preserved in a chemical solution, covered in ice slush and transported 300 km from Bengaluru to the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research.<br />Saved seven lives</p>.<p>The youth not only donated his hands but also his heart, liver, kidneys, eyes and heart valves for transplant. The heart is reported to have gone to an 18-year-old in Madhya Pradesh who was suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart cannot pump blood effectively due to the organ enlarging.</p>.<p>His liver was donated to a 67-year-old in Bengaluru who was suffering from liver cancer and was on the wait list since August 2018.
