Last Updated 29 April 2018, 18:10 IST

Congress leader and National Knowledge Commission former chairman Sam Pitroda charged that a malicious propaganda is being carried out against the party on social media, which is totally divorced of the facts.

He said a lot of lies are being amplified during the propaganda and pointed out that the figures, borne out by the publicity content on social networking sites, do not make any sense and therefore, people should not be carried away by these lies.

Pitroda said Congress made a lot of achievements in the field of Telecommunication and Information Technology sector in the last 70 years. The Congress which created a platform for the development of telecom and IT sectors in the country, which was the real work. Bengaluru became the Silicon Valley of south and the knowledge valley of Karnataka due to the efforts of the Congress. Unfortunately, it is not acknowledged, he regretted.

“It is true that there are basic problems, such as non-accessibility of electric power, still exist in the remote rural areas of India, which I feel bad about personally. Unfortunately, we are not locked up in a dialogue on development. We are into dialogues on irrelevant issues, such as religion and commune. I could not see the same India of 1970s, where we had achieved social harmony in the real sense,” he remarked.

Predicting that the upcoming Legislative Assembly election in Karnataka will set stage for the next General Elections, he expressed confidence that the Congress will retain power in the state.

Pitroda clarified that he did not take part in the preparation of the state election manifesto. He said he will work towards the national manifesto, if the Congress president, wishes him to do so.

District Congress Committee Chairman Harish Kumar was present.
