Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address an election rally in Gangavathi on April 12, the District Congress Committee has pitched in for campaigning by AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi.

Gangavathi, a business center, is ideally located to reach out to the voters of Bellary, Raichur and Koppal Lok Sabha constituencies. More than the district headquarters (Koppal), Gangavathi draws more people. Therefore, both the parties have zeroed in on this town for holding the rally.

Modi is scheduled to address a massive rally at 2 pm on April 12 in Gangavathi. Sprawling 30-acre area adjoining Raichur Road on the outskirts of the town will be the venue for the event. He will seek votes for BJP contestants from Bellary, Raichur and Koppal constituencies. While Modi will address rallies in Bagalkot and Chikkodi on April 18.

On the other hand, the District Congress Committee (DCC) has sought the state leaders to bring in Priyanka Gandhi for electioneering in Gangavathi. It is said that the DCC has suggested three dates - April 19, 20 and 21 for Priyanka's rally.

Meanwhile, AICC president Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to seek votes in Mandya and KR Pet on April 13. He will also tour the districts in north Karnataka and the dates are yet to be finalised.

BJP general secretary, Arvind Limbavali said that Modi will address one more rally in Karnataka, in addition to the six planned earlier.

Similarly, BJP national president Amit Shah is scheduled to campaign on April 10, 14 and 17, during which he will address two public meetings and hold four road shows. One of its prominent campaigners during Assembly elections 2018, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will canvass only on April 17 and address rallies at Bidar, Kalaburagi and Hubballi-Dharwad.
