Karnataka Government on Saturday allowed the private engineering colleges for 10% fee hike. Higher Education Minister GT Deve Gowda along with other officials and private college associations chaired the meeting and announced 10% fee hike in private engineering college.

"The association of engineering colleges had demanded 15% fee hike, we have convinced them for to 10% hike. As we are expecting a code of conduct anytime soon so we finalised the fee structure, GT Deve Gowda said.

This is against the report of Justice Shylendra Kumar's Fee Regulatory Committee proposal for 8% fee hike for last academic year. So with the new revision, the government has allowed for 18% fee hike within two years.

The govt seat which was 53,460/- in private college, last year will now be 58,800/- With the COMED-K seats which were Rs 1,83,600/- in last academic year will now be 2,01,960/- from the upcoming academic year.
