WhatsApp testing new feature to help users return missed calls

WhatsApp will have three preset reminder options-- after 2 hours, after 8 hours, after 24 hours and a custom, which allows users to set a timer as per his/her convenience.

WhatsApp is the most popular messenger app on Android and iOS platforms worldwide. But, it is also facing stiff competition from rivals such as Snapchat, Telegram and the latest entrant BitChat, developed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.

To keep the subscribers hooked to the messenger app, WhatsApp regularly rolls out new value-added features to enhance user experience.

In the latest instance, WhatsApp has begun testing a new voice call reminder feature, reported WABetaInfo, citing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android v2.25.22.5.

As you can see in the screenshot (below), WhatsApp will offer multiple options to set a reminder for users to return the missed call. It will have three preset options-- after 2 hours, after 8 hours, after 24 hours and the custom. The latter allows the user to set the timing as per his/her convenience.

This is helpful for users who couldn't answer calls due to a meeting or attending a programme. With the reminder feature, they can call back the person.

This feature is still in testing, and based on feedback, WhatsApp is expected to roll out the feature in a few months or even earlier, if there are no bugs or any issues as such.

In a related development, WhatsApp is also testing another value-added feature that will allow users to import their profile photo from their Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Currently, users have to manually download profile photos from Instagram and Facebook to their phone's gallery app. And then re-upload the same photo to change their Display Photo on WhatsApp.
