Xiaomi 2021 Product Launch Part II highlights: New Mi 11 Ultra, Pro, Mi Band 6 and more

As advertised, Xiaomi unveiled the new line of the smartphones Mi 11 Ultra, Pro, and Lite series along with Mi Band 6 and Mi Projector series.

The Mi 11 Ultra and Mi 11 Pro come with similar features including front display, processor, and battery, but differ in terms of primary photography hardware.

Both the phones sport a 6.81-inch Quad HD+ (3200×1440p) AMOLED screen, offer a peak brightness of 1700 nits (peak) brightness, supports HDR10 +, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, in-screen fingerprint sensor with heart rate monitoring capability. And, it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus shield and comes with IP68 certification.

The company has incorporated a small functional screen beside the camera module on the back. It has a 1.1-inch always-on AMOLED display with 126 x 294p resolution and offers a peak brightness of 450 nits. This comes in handy to take a selfie with the rear-side primary camera.

Inside, Mi 11 Ultra and Pro come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor backed by 6400Mhz 8GB/12GB LPPDDR5 RAM, 128GB/256GB/512GB (UFS 2.1) storage, Android 11-based MIUI 12.5, dual-SIM slots ( type: nano+nano), infrared sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, 67W wired and wireless charging capability via USB Type-C charger. It also supports Type-C audio, Hi-Res audio, dual speakers to offer stereo effect and boasts Harman Kardon audio system.

The new Mi 11 Ultra houses a feature-rich triple camera module-- main 50MP (1/ 1.12-inch Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor, 1.4μm pixel size, f/1.95, OIS: Optical Image Stabilisation) + 48MP 128-degree ultra-wide-angle lens (Sony IMX586 sensor, f/2.2) + 48MP telephoto camera (Sony IMX586 sensor, OIS, f/4.1, 5x optical, 10x hybrid, up to 120x zoom) backed by an LED flash, dToF (direct Time-of-Flight) sensor, flicker sensor. It is capable of recording up to 8K at 24fps, 4K at 30fps/60fps, full HD 1080p at 30fps/60fps, boasts gyro-EIS (Electronics Image Stabilisation) for stable videos.

On the other hand, the Mi 11 Pro comes with a 50MP ( 1/ 1.12-inch Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor, 1.4μm pixel size, f/1.95 aperture, OIS, LED flash) + 13MP 123-degree ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.4) + 8MP telephoto camera ( f/3.4, OIS, 5x optical, up to 50x zoom) and support 8K at 30fps, 4K 60fps, slow-motion HD at 960fps, ultra-slow motion HD at 1920 fps.
Both the models come with the same 20MP front snapper with 0.8μm pixel size and f/2.2 aperture.

The new Mi 11 Ultra comes in three shades-- ceramic black, ceramic white and marble white. It will be available in three configurations-- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage-- for ¥5,999 yuan (approx. Rs 66,447), ¥6,499 yuan (roughly Rs 71,985) and ¥6,999 yuan (around Rs 77,523), respectively.

The Mi 11 Pro comes in three colours-- black, green and purple. It will be available in three configurations-- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage-- for ¥4,999 yuan (approx. Rs 55,384), ¥5,299 yuan (roughly Rs 58,708) and ¥5,699 yuan (around Rs 63,140), respectively.

Both the models are slated to go on sale next week in select markets including China and Europe on April 2.

Xiaomi also unveiled the Mi 11i variant. It comes with a 6.67-inch full HD+ (2400 x 1080p) AMOLED screen with a 120Hz display refresh rate, offers a peak brightness of 1300nit, supports HDR10+, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 shield. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, infrared sensor, and dual SIM slots (type: nano + nano).

Under-the-hood, it comes packed with a 5nm class Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor with Adreno 660 GPU, 8GB LPPDDR5 RAM with 128GB / 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, Android 11-based MIUI 12 OS and a 4520mAh battery with 33W fast charging capability.

As far as the photography is concerned, it comes with a triple camera module-- main 108MP (1/1.52-inch Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor, f/1.75) + 8MP 119-degree ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2) + 5MP tele-macro lens (f/2.4) with LED flash. On the front, it features a 20MP snapper ( 0.8μm pixel size and f/2.4).

Xiaomi Mi 11i comes in three colours-- celestial silver, cosmic black, frosty white. It will be available in two configurations-- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage--€649 (approx. Rs 55, 745), and €699 (roughly Rs 60,039) and respectively.
Mi 11 Lite 5G and Lite 4G LTE

The Chinese company also launched two variants of Mi 11 Lite-- one with 5G and another with 4G LTE support.

They come with a 6.55-inch full HD+ (1080 × 2400p) AMOLED screen with 90Hz display refresh rate. The 5G model will feature Gorilla Glass 6, whereas the LTE variant will have Gorilla Glass 5 shield.

The new Mi Lite series come with a triple-camera module-- main 64MP (f/1.79) + 8MP 119-degree ultra-wide sensor (f/2.2) + 5MP tele-macro macro lens (f/2.4) backed by LED flash. On the front, the 4G model features a 16MP sensor and the 5G model will have a 20MP sensor.

They come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, IR sensor, Android 11-based MIUI 12 OS, 6GB RAM/8GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage (expandable), and a 4,250mAh battery with 33W fast charging capability.

The Mi 11 Lite 5G model is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G 5G processor, whereas the Mi 11 Lite features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G octa-core chipset.

The Mi 11 Lite 5G comes in three colours--citrus yellow, mint green and truffle black. It comes in two configurations-- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage-- for ¥2,299 (approx. Rs 25,576) and ¥2,599 (roughly Rs 28,913), respectively.

The Mi Lite 4G LTE comes in three colours--boba black, bubblegum blue and peach pink. It comes in two configurations-- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage-- with prices starting at €299 (approx. Rs 25,663). This model will be made available in Europe soon.

Mi Band 6 series
The Mi Band 6 series succeeds the popular fitness tracker Mi Band 5. It comes with a bigger 1.56-inch AMOLED display with a pixel density of 326 ppi (pixels per inch), almost 50 per cent larger than its predecessor. It can track more than 30 workout types while also offering auto-detection for 6 common fitness activities. It also comes equipped with an array of health functions, including SpO2 (blood-sugar saturation) measurement, heart rate monitoring, enhanced sleep tracking functions, and more.

The new Mi Smart Band 6 costs €44.99 (approx. Rs 4,290) and will be released in Europe and also in India soon.

Xiaomi Mi Projector 2 Pro series
It offers full HD (1920 x 1080p) picture quality and offers up to 1300 ANSI lumens high brightness, and HDR10 support for enhanced color contrast.

It also sports in-built 10W speakers with DTS-HD and Dolby Audio system, promising high-quality audio performance. The device supports Omni-directional keystone correction, which helps in positioning the screen out of the user’s hands. It runs Android TVsystem and comes enabled with Chromecast and Google Assistant support.

The new Mi Projector 2 Pro costs €999 (roughly Rs 85,744) and will available in Europe and select global regions in the coming weeks.
