20K people expected for Janagraha

Nearly 20,000 people are expected to participate in the Janagraha convention, to be held in the town on December 2.

The convention is being organised by Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) Udupi district unit to mount pressure on Central government to build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,

VHP Udupi unit president Santhosh Suvarna Bolje said the convention was being organised in car parking area, near Sri Krishna Mutt. Prior to the stage event, a procession will be carried out by the members of self help groups and bhajan troupes from Jodu Katte area to car parking area at 3 pm on December 2, he added.

Raghavulu, Joint Secretary, VHP will deliver the keynote address on the occasion. The pontiffs of different mutts will be present on the occasion, he added.

Bolje said that meetings (Baithaks) were held in all the 35 wards of Udupi CMC in order to motivate people to participate in the event in large numbers. A bill should be tabled in the upcoming winter session of Parliament to facilitate construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The office-bearers of the district unit of VHP will submit a letter to the Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje to support the bill for the construction of Ram Mandir.
