The space for the kiosk will be provided free of cost.<br /><br />To this effect, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the BMRCL and Karnataka Khadi Gramodyog Samyukta Sangh, the only authorised manufacturers of the national flag and promoters of khadi. “The intention is to re-live that politically charged atmosphere of the pre-independence era and feel some of that old patriotism when one walks into the store and sets his/her eyes on the khadi flags and M K Gandhi’s ‘very own’ charkha,” says the MoU.<br /><br />The concept was proposed by Karnataka Khadi Gramodyog Samyukta Sangh (KKGSS) and the BMRCL has obliged, stating that they must however, not deviate from the plan given by the Corporation. <br /><br />The scheduled space is located in a prominent place visible to commuters, the BMRCL said, adding that KKGSS will be allowed to affix their logo as permitted in the approved plan.<br />Also, the Corporation has said that it would consider providing a signage, if needed, informing commuters of the location of the National Flag kiosk.<br /><br />The MoU further specifies that KKGSS has to construct the kiosk within eight weeks from the date of signing the agreement (October 5). Although the space comes free of cost to KKGSS, property tax, if applicable, will have to be paid.<br /><br />For the purpose of energy consumption, BMRCL will permit a separate meter at the cost of KKGSS, which should be paid within the due date regularly.<br /><br />The BMRCL has also prescribed that KKGSS assume full responsibility of their kiosk and for any loss, destruction, theft, arson, riots, and advises that there be sufficient insurance cover.</p>
