A day after Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and his actor-son Abhishek tested positive for Covid-19, other members of his family too got infected with the virus.
The Bachchans are considered among the top-10 Bollywood families.
While Bachchan's wife Jaya tested negative, their daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and grand-daughter Aaradhya got tested positive.
The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), meanwhile, sanitised three bungalows of the Bachchans - Jalsa, Prateeksha and Janak.
While the Bachchan father-son duo are admitted to the Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital in Vile Parle, Aishwarya and Aaradhya are at home.
The Maharashtra government is taking regular updates on the health of the Bachchan family from Nanavati Hospital and BMC.
In the morning, state health minister Rajesh Tope said Rapid Antigen test of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan both were done. "Both tested positive and are having old cough and fever. Bachchan ji has specifically said in his tweet that all people who came in contact with him past 5-7 days should get tested and quarantine themselves...," he said.
In the evening, he tweeted: "Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter Aaradhya Abhishek Bachchan have also been detected positive for Covid-19. Jaya Bachhan ji is tested negative for Covid-19. We wish the Bachchan family to get well soon with a speedy recovery."
Meanwhile, social media platforms were flooded with messages wishing speedy recovery to the superstar.
"Amit , get well soon. I am sure of my courageous younger brother......he will soon be fit and fine in a day or two ...Jaya, don’t worry...every thing will be fine my brave baby....Look after yourself and everyone at home.....Love you all......take care," tweeted Dharmendra, a close friend.
