Congress on Saturday said it suspected that the Modi government was suppressing the true numbers of new infections and Covid-related deaths in conjunction with some state governments.
The single-day rise in new coronavirus infections in India was at 3,11,170 on Sunday. This takes the country's total caseload to2,46,84,077according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced that the lockdown in Delhi will be extended by another week. The national capital will now remain shut till May 24.
Rajeev Satav, the Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra, succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday. He was in critical condition. Satav (46) was part of the core team of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
