I strongly condemn and express my deep outrage over the brutal killing of 4 peacefully-protesting farmers and injuring several others by mowing them down with vehicles in Lakhimpur Kheri on 3 October 2021. This inhuman killing was carried out in a brazen manner by the son of the Union MoS Home Affairs and his accomplices. This is a fatal blow to the very democratic roots of our country. This grave incident of killing of peacefully-agitating farmers is further compounded by the fact that the State machinery did not take action against the culprits. Instead the State administration detained Congress leader Smt Priyanka Gandhi who had gone there to condole the bereaved and condemn this inhuman act. As a people’s leader, Smt Priyanka Gandhi was harassed, pushed, roughed up and illegally detained without any warrant which no law permits. All this was done while she was performing her representational duties to voice the farmers’ grievances and meet the bereaved families. This is nothing but stifling the fundamental right of free expression and movement as envisioned in our Constitution and also obstructing people’s leaders from performing their duties.
The reason behind this incident is three farm laws... I along with my ministers met Governor Banwarilal Purohit& gave him the memorandum to repeal the three farm laws: Punjab CM CS Channi
