West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ended her dharna against CBI's actions on Tuesday after Supreme Court directed her government to allow CBI to question the Kolkata police chief.

Banerjee who started the sit-in demonstration on Sunday following the CBI'S attempt to question Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in relation to the chit fund scam called off her protest with a vow to oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power.

With Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu by her side, Banerjee slammed the Centre for initiating disciplinary action against Kumar for attending the dharna.

Banerjee argued that the dharna was not a polite program and a Police Commissioner can always come to meet the Chief Minister.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday morning directed Kolkata police commissioner IPS officer Rajeev Kumar to make himself available before the CBI and fully cooperate in the investigation into the Saradha and Rose Valley chit funds scam.

The top court, however, directed that no coercive action or arrest of Kumar should be made by the CBI.

Mamata had described SC direction as a "moral victory" citing the 'bar' on arresting Rajeev Kumar.

The Kolkata Police and CBI were on a collision course since Sunday when a team of CBI officials who tried to question the Kolkata Police Commissioner were virtually pushed into vehicles by police and taken to a nearby police station. After being kept at the police station for some time the CBI officers were released.
