Last month, Apple unveiled the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, along with the all-new iPhone Air. Besides the latter, the ultra-top-end iPhone 17 Pro series, in particular, the Cosmic Orange variant, has turned out to be the most popular among the new devices.

Orange is the new black

People are loving the very unique orange iPhone 17 Pro model, as it stands out in the crowded market and instantly gets recognised as Apple's most powerful iPhone to date.

However, a social media user who goes by the moniker DakAttack316 on a Reddit handle r/iPhone has posted an issue about the iPhone 17 Pro Cosmic Orange variant turning pink.

While some netizens called it a fake photoshopped image of the device, others with knowledge of chemistry and metal pointed out that the discolouration might be caused by using a reactive agent-laced liquid to cleanse the device.

It should be noted that Apple, to incorporate an effective heat dissipation system, replaced the titanium case (used in iPhone 16 Pro and 15 Pro models) with anodised aluminium in the iPhone 17 Pro series.

Apple's official customer support page notes that customers can use a 70 per cent isopropyl alcohol wipe or 75 per cent ethyl alcohol wipe, or Clorox Disinfecting wipes. And users have to gently wipe the exterior surfaces of the iPhone.

It warns not to use any products that contain bleach or hydrogen peroxide. Also, avoid getting moisture in any openings, and don't submerge your iPhone in any cleaning agents.

After disinfecting, wipe with a soft, slightly damp (with water), lint-free cloth.

Therefore, iPhone 17 Pro series owners are advised to use diluted cleaning liquid (with the aforementioned composition) only, or else visit the nearest Apple store or authorised service centre for device cleaning.
