<p>Suspected militants hurled a grenade at a wine shop in Narwal area in the city, killing one person and injuring five others, the second attack on a liquor outlet in Jammu and Kashmir within a week.<br /><br />“Suspected militants hurled a grenade on Monish wine shop which exploded, injuring six persons of which one succumbed to injuries while being taken to hospital this evening,” DIG, Jammu-Poonch range, J P Singh said.</p>.<p>Preliminary information said the grenade was thrown at the wine shop at Narwal, south of Jammu city, at 7:10 pm, police said.<br /><br />Kuldeep Raj, a resident of Akhnoor, succumbed to injuries while five others -- Amarnath, Rajinder Singh, Rakesh Singh, Ramu and Pradeep Kumar -- were being treated at GMC hospital.<br /><br />This is the second attack on a wine shop in the state and Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen are suspected to be behind it. One person was killed and four others injured when militants had attacked a wine shop in Dalgate area of Srinagar earlier this week.<br />Probe begun<br /><br />Asked whether it was linked to the Dalgate attack, Singh said , “It is premature to say anything. We are probing.”<br /><br />Senior police officials visited the site and security has been beefed up in the area. Intensive vehicle checking has been launched, they said.<br /><br />This is the first time militants have struck in Jammu area since May 2011 when one person was killed, while a senior Army officer had escaped unhurt in a car-bomb blast on Jammu-Srinagar national highway.<br /></p>
