<p>The Congress promised “corruption free and transparent municipal administration” in its manifestos released on Saturday, for MCD elections in three municipalities.<br /></p>.<p> <br />The Congress also made 'area specific development' promises in the three separate manifestos released for each of the three municipalities – north Delhi, south Delhi and east Delhi, which go to polls on April 15.<br /><br />Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit trashed BJP’s allegations of corruption and highlighted the achievements of her government on the manifesto release function, attended by senior Congress leaders Motilal Vora and Janardhan Dwivedi, Union Ministers Ajay Maken and Krishna Tirath. The manifestos were released by Delhi Congress president, J P Agarwal. <br /><br />The CM reiterated that it will be her biggest priority to make Delhi clean and green, the cleanest city of the country. She said the trifurcation of MCD and providing 50 per cent women reservation remained her government's biggest achievement.<br /><br />“Delhi government has built wide beautiful roads but once you enter the colonies, what do you see? Dirty, pot-holed roads. Why? Because these roads are maintained by the MCD, being governed by the corrupt BJP. <br /><br />Thus we lagged behind in making Delhi clean. So, if you want better clean roads, if you want development, then vote for Congress,” said Dikshit.<br /><br />Dikshit commented that a time will come when men will ask reservation. “In years to come, men will approach Agarwal Sahab asking for tickets under men's reservation,” added Dikshit. <br /><br />CM also rebuked BJP for failing to control illegal and unsafe constructions that led to the collapse of buildings in which hundreds of people were killed in past five years.<br />Congress manifestos, printed in English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi, identified health, education, urban development, sanitation and social sectors as its priority areas.<br /><br />Besides promising relaxation in property tax for senior citizens, widows and single women, the Congress made a commitment to expand citizen's charter for bringing the time-bound results and accountability in the working of corporations. <br />Some other promises made by Congress include simplification of procedure for approval of layout plans and allowing sub-division of plots.<br /><br />Projects<br /><br />* North Delhi Municipal Corporation: Multi-Level Parking at Jhandewalan Complex, Improving drainage system in re-settlement colony of Jahangirpuri, Upgrading G K M Hospital to 250 bed General Hospital, Starting of Multi Speciality block in Hindu Rao Hospital, New Maternity Homes in Mundka and Nangloi, <br />Improvement of Sarai Rohilla Flyover etc.<br /><br />* South Delhi Municipal Corporation: Construction of new flyover at intersection of Janakpuri on Pankha Road, Underpass from IIT to Adhchini for traffic decongestion, Maternity and Child Welfare Centre at Tigri, Hauz Khas, Mehrauli and Shahpur Jat <br />villages to be developed into Heritage villages, Improvement of Palam Dabri Road, Najafgarh Road etc. <br /><br />*East Delhi Municipal Corporation: Building a Multi Speciality Hospital in Geeta Colony, Widening of Loni Road, Sarai Kale Khan to be linked with Mayur Vihar, <br />providing land for new MCD schools in Rajiv Nagar, Mustafabad, Shiv Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Harsh Vihar, Shastri Park Extension, Sports Stadium, 18 new community centres, four Recreation centres.<br /><br />Write for change<br /><br />The Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls are on April 15.
