Cops went to Tomar's colleges in UP, Bihar

Two teams of Delhi Police were sent to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University in UP’s Faizabad district and Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district to verify Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar‘s documents attached with the Bar Council of Delhi complaint.

Tomar claims to have done BSc from K S Saket PG College in Ayodhya. “However, the BSc degree and marks sheets were not found in the college or university’s records,” said Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deepak Mishra.

The roll number mentioned in the documents were also not found. It was confirmed by the Controller of Examination of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University.
“The provisional certificate of LLB issued in Tomar’s name from Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University has also been reported to be fake,” Mishra added.

The roll number mentioned in the provisional certificate was found to be allotted to another student, Sanjay Kumar Chaudhary, from a different stream in 1999. The signature of Rajender Prasad Singh as Controller of Examination on the mark sheet of LLB-Part 3 and provisional certificate were found to be forged.

In documents of Biswanath Singh Institute of Legal Studies, it was shown that Tomar had obtained the BSc degree from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, but in the documents of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, he was shown to have been migrated from Bundelkhand University in UP’s Jhansi district.

The registration number mentioned in the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University document was of 2001, whereas in the LLB mark sheets of first and second year, the registration number was of1996 and 1997.

Bundelkhand University has also clarified to Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University that no such migration certificate was issued with the registration number to Tomar. “The enquiry, documents and reports obtained from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University and Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University and other enquiries from officials and former officials disclosed a cognisable offence,” Mishra added.

Accordingly, a case under sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using a forged document as genuine) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code was registered with Hauz Khas police station.
