<p>An unidentified woman’s decomposed body was discovered at NTPC’s dumping ground in south-east Delhi’s Jaitpur after a passerby saw some stray dogs digging out its leg from a heap of ash dumped there.<br /><br /></p>.<p>There were injuries on the face and neck, and police suspect she was beaten before being strangled.<br /><br />But what exactly caused her death and whether she was sexually assaulted before being killed will be ascertained only by the autopsy report.<br /><br />The matter came to light around 9.30 am on Tuesday after a man walking past the dumping yard saw some dogs digging in a dump of ash.<br /><br />Taking a closer look, he found that they were tugging at a human leg.<br />He immediately raised an alarm and some CISF personnel passing through the area, shooed the dogs away.<br /><br />Police were immediately informed and the body was taken out and sent to AIIMS mortuary.<br />It is likely to be preserved there for 72 hours for identification purposes.<br />While the woman has not been identified yet, a police officer said she appeared to be married and was likely in her twenties.<br /><br />“She was wearing a saree and a blouse, and had bangles on both her hands,” said the officer.<br />Given the extent to which the body had decomposed, it was likely she was killed about two days ago.<br /><br />The physical assault appeared to have been directed at her face as it bore injuries of beatings.Police said they suspected she belonged to Delhi and all police stations in and around the city have been asked to report about any woman, aged between 20 and 40, who has gone missing over the last few days.<br /><br />A case of murder has been registered with Jaitpur police station.Only last month, a kidnapped boy’s body was found around the same dumping ground where some pits have been dug out to dump the waste.<br /><br />Locals have told police that those aware of the incident have started avoiding the area as it is secluded and creates fear among them.<br /><br />Headless body in bushes<br />An unidentified man’s headless body was found dumped in bushes at east Delhi’s Akshardham on Tuesday afternoon. <br /><br />The victim’s age could not be estimated as his head is yet to be recovered.<br />Police received a call from a passerby around 2 pm on Tuesday informing about a body lying in the bushes not very far from the Akshardham Temple premises. The man saw the victim’s leg popping out of the bushes and checked to find that he had been decapitated.<br /><br />A police team arrived at the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem and a case was registered.Police stations in and around Delhi have been informed. Police suspect he was killed on Tuesday itself.<br /><br /></p>
