<p>The mysterious death of a student from south Kashmir district of Pulwama in Hyderabad, triggered massive protests in the deceased’s native place on Sunday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Reports reaching here said Mudasir Ahmed Malla of Parigam Pulwama, 40 km from here, pursuing PhD in English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad was found hanging in his hostel room on Saturday night.<br /><br />As the word about his death spread in Pulwama on Sunday morning people took to the streets and staged massive protests.<br /><br />Stones pelted<br /><br />The demonstrators, who also pelted stones on vehicles, alleged that Mudasir was killed during an interrogation by Hyderabad police for his participation in the recent demonstrations against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.<br /><br />Police and para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in full riot gear was moved out in Pulwama town and other parts of the district to tackle the law and order situation.<br /><br />Though police suspected it to be a case of suicide, separatists in Valley have pointed towards ‘police and right wing nationalists’ accusing them of murdering the youth.<br />A police spokesperson said immediately after coming to know the death of a Kashmiri student in Hyderabad, Jammu and Kashmir Police contacted the Hyderabad Police.<br /><br />“The Hyderabad Police has informed that Mudasir was putting up with a friend named Waseem in a hostel room for some time. However, some time back Waseem, who belongs to Maharashtra had shifted from this room,” he said.<br /><br />“Waseem had also complained against Mudasir to the proctor of the University. The proctor had called and counselled Mudasir a couple of times.” <br /><br />“Yesterday Mudasir was found hanging in his hostel room,” he added.<br />The spokesperson said Hyderabad police has lodged an FIR 79/2013 under section 306-IPC in police station, Osmania University against the proctor.<br /><br />“Further investigation in the case is going on and Jammu and Kashmir Police is in constant touch with the Hyderabad Police,” he added.<br /><br />However, Ashiq Hussain Malla, brother of the deceased refuted the police claim. “We are not ready to buy the police version that Mudasir committed suicide. For the last six days we had no contact with him,” he said.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Majlis-e-Masha-warat, an umbrella of separatists organisations, has issued a fresh protest calendar urging people to march to the ‘murdered’ youth’s home town in Pulwama on Tuesday.<br />It has called for a complete shutdown in Kashmir on March 4, Trehgam (Kupwara) and Doabgah (Sopore) chalo on March 6, protests outside Indian embassies in foreign countries on March 7, protests after Friday prayers on March 8 and Facebook protests on March 9.<br /><br /></p>
