Three persons, including a 40-year-old woman, have been arrested for alleged involvement in an inter-state  human trafficking racket. An abducted woman has also been rescued from the gang, police said on Saturday.

Kamla, Jeet Ram, 54, and Rajbir, 32, were held after a complaint on June 5 that 42-year-old home nurse Guddi (name changed) had been missing from her Mangolpuri residence since April 20.

Complainant Manoj – Guddi’s son – told police that he suspected Kamla’s involvement in his mother’s abduction.

“We then interrogated Kamla during which a horrible story of human trafficking came out,” said B S Jaiswal, deputy commissioner of police (outer). Kamla told police that on April 20, she and a man named Vijay had asked Guddi to accompany them to work at a house in Haryana’s Palwal district for two days.

Guddi agreed to accompany them and went to Palwal, where they stayed at Jeet’s house. However, on April 21, Jeet sold Guddi for Rs 30,000 to Rajbir.

Kamla was arrested after her confession and a raid was immediately conducted at Rajbir’s house in Uttar Pradesh’s Rajapur village. “Guddi was rescued from the house, while Rajbir was arrested,” Jaiswal added.

Guddi told police that Rajbir, who works in Ghaziabad, used to rape her and keep her locked in the house.

“Jeet was arrested at his Palwal house on Saturday, but Vijay is still absconding. Jeet has confessed his involvement in the crime. Further interrogation is under progress,” Jaiswal said.

A case was lodged against Kamla, Jeet and Rajbir at Mangolpuri police station after Guddi was medically examined. They face charges of kidnapping, keeping in confinement, rape and criminal intimidation.
