<p>Three Delhi government revenue officials – a sub-registrar, a tehsildar and a patwari – in connivance with land mafias, allegedly usurped land worth crores in east Delhi.<br /><br /></p>.<p>They generated fake khasra numbers and manipulated the revenue records.<br />The officials identified as Harish Bajaj, sub-registrar-VIII, Susheel Bharti, tehsildar of Preet Vihar and Shyam Pal, patwari of Preet Vihar have been suspended with immediate effect.<br />A criminal case against the trio has been registered at Shakarpur police station.<br /><br />The usurped land includes private as well as the government land – even railway land.<br />The department has received a total of 154 complaints against the accused persons, said divisional commissioner Vijay Dev.<br /><br />“However, since it would have taken a long time to enquire all the 154 complaints , a random enquiry of 39 properties in Mandawali village area was conducted and 29 of these were involved in illegal transactions. <br /><br />Prime facie, the modus operandi of the accused officials was to extract money from land grabbers for getting the documents registered. The nexus between sub-registrar, tehsildar and patwari is quite evident,” added Dev<br /><br />The sub-registrar sought land status reports directly from tehsildar, while as per law he should have asked the area additional district magistrate for such reports, said Dev. <br /><br />“The accused tehsildar sought site inspection report from patwari. The investigation revealed that patwari Shayam Pal never inspected the site but signed the status reports and forwarded them to the tehsildar for his counter signature. The tehsildar subsequently forwarded them to the sub-registrar for getting the property registered,” added Dev.<br />The tehsildar, a custodian of government land, committed criminal breach of trust by issuing status report of government land including that of railway department.<br /><br />“Not only this, he has generated fake khasra numbers and manipulated revenue records. Thus he cheated the department with dishonest motives,” Dev said. Issuing a warning to the officials involved in corrupt land dealings, Dev said department has a policy of zero-tolerance in such matters and stern action will be taken against those found guilty.<br />He assured a thorough inquiry into the matter.</p>
