<p>Kalladka Sri Rama High School and Punacha Sridevi High School will now get rice for mid-day meals from the government under Aksha Dasoha scheme. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had withdrawn financial grants provided by Kollur Mookambika Temple for mid-day meals to these schools.</p>.<p class="bodytext">About a week ago, the decision was taken to supply materials for the mid-day meals to these schools. Accordingly, the Akshara Dasoha officials have supplied rice to the school, said BEO Shivaprakash.</p>.<p class="bodytext">There are 902 students pursuing studies in Kalladka Sri Rama High School and 104 students in Punacha Sridevi High School.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Each child is given 150 gram rice per day under mid-day meals. Rice needed to supply food for 20 days has been supplied.</p>.<p class="bodytext">As the students are admitted to schools till June end, the rice and other materials will be supplied as per the requirement of the school, said Akshara Dasoha Assistant Director Nonaya. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Meanwhile, Kalladka Sri Rama Vidyalaya Head who is also RSS leader Dr K Prabhakar Bhat refused to comment on the development.</p>.<p class="bodytext">It may be recalled that the Muzrai department in its order on July 31, 2017 had directed to withdraw the adoption of Sri Rama Vidya Kendra in Kalladka and Sri Devi Vidya Kendra at Punacha in Bantwal taluk by the Kollur Mookambika Temple.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The order on Kollur Mookambika Temple adopting these two institutions was taken during the BJP government’s tenure by the Muzrai department on June 20, 2007.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Accordingly, the temple had given Rs 2.32 crore to Sri Rama Vidya Kendra and Rs 50.72 lakh to Sridevi Vidya Kendra between 2007 and 2016.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A report from the Muzrai department said that the Mookambika Temple had spent Rs 2.83 crore towards the expenditure of these two educational institutions.<br />Alleging the withdrawal of grant as politically-motivated, students from these two schools had staged a huge protest on B C Road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Later a group of youth from Mangaluru through social media had initiated “Bhikshamdehi” campaign to raise rice and cash to the school.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Even MP Shobha Karandlaje had initiated “Mushti akki’ campaign to collect rice for mid-day meals in the school.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The BJP had accused then District -in-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai of playing politics in the name of mid-day meals.</p>
