Bankers to stage protest on Dec 21, 26

The All India Bank Officer’s Confederation will organise a protest on December 21 and 26 in front of Syndicate Bank Regional Office at Syndicate Tower in Manipal.

Speaking to mediapersons, on Wednesday, All India Bank Officer’s Confederation president Shashidhar Shetty said All India Bank Officer’s Confederation was the largest association of bank officers with more than 3.20 lakh members with affiliation to public sector banks and also a few private sector banks.

He said though 13 months had lapsed since the effective date of 11th bipartite settlement and many round of talks on salary revision took place, IBA was not coming forward with any solutions on the issue.

“The mandate issue which is the base for our negotiation with IBA is yet to settled. Further, IBA has failed to resolve many other issues of bank employees and retirees.”

Shetty added that repeated request to MPs, irrespective of party affiliations, went unheeded and they are forced to go on strike on the following few issues.

He said the demands include full mandate for officers at various scale, salary revision as per charter of demands, to ensure proper work life balance for officers and introduction of 5-day week, settlement of retiree issues of pension updation and improvement in family pension, focus on core business and scrap NPS and switch over to pension payment scheme, resolve the issues in Catholic Syrian and IDBI bank and parity in pension of RRBS with public sector banks.

Shetty added that All India Bank Officer’s Confederation opposes proposed amalgamation of BOB, Vijaya and Dena bank, attack on bankers while discharging official duties, unilateral reduction in medical benefits to officers and steep increase in medical insurance premium.

He added that All India Bank Officer’s Confederation with more than 3.20 lakh officers will go on 24-hour continuous strike from midnight of 20th to 21st December 2018. Further, on December 26, the members will again participate in the UFBU strike call on merger issues.
