The Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on Thursday said it has decided to invest over Rs 4,050 crore to upgrade western offshore facilities through two major projects – Mumbai High and Heera fields.

In effect, the Mumbai High and Heera fields will witness an infusion of Rs 2,913 crore, while the Bassein and Satellite field will cost Rs 1,138 crore.

“With the implementation of various redevelopment project in Western Offshore, the fields are expected to be on production beyond 2030. The existing infrastructural facilities would be required to be in service beyond 2030, which is more than the design life of these facilities. Hence revamping/retrofitting of these facilities in a phased manner is essential to maintain production of oil and gas from Mumbai High and Heera fields,” ONGC said. The oil and exploration major also said investment will be made in Bassein and Satellite field, which handle and process acidic and corrosive gas needs revamping of static equipment and pipelines.
